The Fabulous Frank Sinatra turns 100!

Frank Sinatra's music remains timeless. He is often referred to as one of the all time greatest artists!  I couldn't agree more - for me - I love his music, his style, and of course that he lived in the VALLEY!  Yes our dear Frank lived in Toluca Lake for a while and also had a house on the hilltop in Chatsworth where JFK and Marilyn supposedly visited.  Yes, that's right Frank was an SFV resident.  Although, Sinatra passed away in 1998, his music lives on touching many generations.  This year Sinatra turns 100, and we are going to count down what we think are his top songs!

1.  The Way You Look Tonight (Song)
*My Favorite Lyrics

Some day, when I'm awfully low,
When the world is cold,
I will feel a glow just thinking of you and the way you look tonight.

Pure magic.

2. Summer Wind (Song)
*My Favorite Lyrics

Like painted kites, those days and nights, they went flyin' by The world was new beneath a blue umbrella sky Then softer than a piper man one day it called to you I lost you, I lost you to the summer wind.

Ever have one of those Summer's you don't want to end, but you know it has to - sort of like this relationship he sings about.

3. Fly Me to the Moon (Song)
*My Favorite Lyrics

Fly Me To The Moon
Let me play among the stars
Let me see what spring is like
On a-Jupiter and Mars
In other words, hold my hand
In other words, baby, kiss me

Play among the stars? Where do I sign up

4. Strangers in the Night (Song)

It marked Sinatra's return to #1 on the pop album charts in the mid-1960s, and consolidated the comeback he started in 1966. British invasion? Not when Frank was on stage.

5.  My Way (Song)
*My Favorite Lyrics

"My Way" is a song popularized by Frank Sinatra. Its lyrics were written by Paul Anka and set to music based on the French song "Comme d'habitude"  I like it because it's for anyone who takes ownersip of their life and no one sings it better than Mr Sinatra.

6. New York, New York (Song)

I love this song for many reasons - 1} it's an anthem, 2} my family comes from New York and I love visiting this City.  Besides who doesn't want to "wake up in a city that doesn't sleep
and find I'm king of the hill top of the heap!

7. Thats Life (Song)
*My Favorite Lyrics

One of his best because you know he lived it when he sings

I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate, a poet, a pawn and a king
I've been up and down and over and out and I know one thing
Each time I find myself flat on my face
I pick myself up and get back in the race

8. Come Fly With Me (Song)
*My Favorite Lyrics

Is this guy fun or what?

Once I get you up there Where the air is rarefied
We'll just glide Starry-eyed
Once I get you up there I'll be holding you so near
You may hear Angels cheer, 'cause we're together

9.  I'v Got you Under My Skin (Song)
*My Favorite Lyrics

I've got you under my skin.
I've got you deep in the heart of me.
So deep in my heart that you're really a part of me.
I've got you under my skin.

10. You Make Me Feel So Young (Song)
*My Favorite Lyrics

The moment that you speak,
I want to go and play hide and seek.
I wanna go and bounce the moon,
Just like a toy balloon.

11.  Witchcraft (Song)
*My favorite lyrics

When you arouse the need in my
My heart says yes indeed in me
Proceed with what your leading me to

12.  Some Enchanted Evening (Song)
*My favorite lyrics

Some enchanted evening, when you find your true love,
When you hear her call you across a crowded room,
Then fly to her side and make her your own,
Or all through your life you may dream all alone.

13. The Girl From Ipanema (Song)
*My favorite Lyrics

Tall and tan and young and lovely
The girl from Ipanema goes walking
And when she passes, I smile, but she
Doesn't see. She just doesn't see
No, she just doesn't

14. The Lady is a Tramp (Song)
*My favorite lyrics

She gets too hungry for dinner at eight
She likes the theater and never comes late
She never bothers with people she'd hate
That's why the lady is a tramp

Well all these songs are amazing and catchy.  Easy to sing along too, and have all gone down in history as some of the greatest songs to date.  Also frank Sinatra is still number 5 on the top selling artists for jazz.  He is an amazing man, with a great sense of style, and pizzazz.  Happy Birthday Frank from RadioSFV!
